Flash 55-some serious questions(now THAT'S a litle different for me!)

What does it mean to "make a difference"? How does it affect your worth as a human being? Do you need support from those that are supposed to love and support you, and if they don't, does that worth diminish? I want to do a long post on this and I'm looking for your input.

Wasn't sure if you wanted my exact answers but here ya go. To make a difference means to make a positive impact in someones life.

What it does for your selfworth is makes you realize just how valuable you are as a person even if it is only one person you made a difference and for the better.

Yes I think that you need support and love from those that are supposed to support and love you. However, if they don't then you find it with an innerstrength inside you and you rise to the occasion and you become a better person a more empowered, knowledable, and just a better respected person cause you did it on your own and you didn't give up.

Hope that helps.

And no the worth does not diminish it just increases. Because you became a better person who did it on your own and you were able to reach out and better someone else.

Good questions mike.Like jadey here says, making a difference does mean having a positive impact which creates a chain of positive reactions. It is like throwing a pebble in water and seeing the waves of concentric circles widen around it.
One does need support from those around, because man can neither be totally dependent not independent, but we are interdependent beings who support each other mutually. Yet , if you really love someone, the worth does not diminish, because love means sharing what you are filled with.If the worth diminish, then that is not love, it would be a need out of loneliness and a need for possession.

Btwn! good heavy 55 lol!

Be yourself, Mike. I can tell from that face, from that smile, that you are a swell kind of guy. Just be that.

Thanks for playing 55 with us.

Yes you need the support of those that matter but no it doesn't affect your worth as a person if you don't get it.

Making a difference means doing something that you feel good about doing - hopefully it will impact on those around you in a good way. Bearing in mind that we can also make a difference in a bad way too?

Just my thoughts :)

ok first in response to your response to my comment on the laast post.....how could i forget virginville???? my husband's grandparents used to own a bar there! and of course the maidenhead creek runs right through there.

ok, onto serious matters...

i thinking making a difference means filling a role in someone's life that either no one else could or was willing to...in a positive sense. it's hard to be that support when it is not appreciated. or it is hard to feel as if you have made a difference or somethign liek that. (brian still foggy from the skull crushing migraine) the thing is sometimes we've made a difference and don't even known we have done so. that's why if someone has made a differnece for me i try to be careful to tell them so very clearly and maybe that makes a difference to them. a little encouragment can go a long way.

I think a lot about this and I have come up with how I feel about it in my own life.

I need people in my life.

The people who I love can either inspire me to be the best me ever, or hurt me really really bad.

Everyone says it shouldn't matter what others think of you, but when someone cares for you, it really just does matter what they think.

I like people in my life to know how much they matter.

And because of this, I feel like I have to power to influence people positively or negatively every day, whether it be something big or small.

just some thoughts,

As a school teacher, I feel like I've made a difference once or twice. I feel it when I hear from former students. I also feel that many more people have made a difference in my life.

I think everyone makes a difference in your life- each person you get to know. It may not always be a good difference, but a difference none the less.

I pray each day to be a blessing to someone that day. I don't know if I am, but it's my hope.

I believe that if I be the best I can be, I will make a difference, but I try not to let my failures affect my worth. I have to believe in myself first... and I do!

Can't wait to read your post!

I think you should really elaborate in a longer post. 55 words is hardly enough on this topic.
