Friday Flash 55-The big news!

I got married for the first time in December of 1979. In December of 1980 my wife graced me with a bright and precocious daughter. Over the years she excelled at academics and track-going to the State tourney 2 times. She graduated from Edinboro University in 2003-Summa Cum Laude. Come next June, she will be making me a Grandpa for the first time. I love ya, Jen.

This may not be my best 55-but it's true.

If you ask a man who's honest,
he'll say "I want a son".
Someone to carry on the name,
to play and go have fun.

As that man gets ever older,
and learns a thing or two,
and if still he's honest,
This is what he'll do:

Value the depth and grace of daughters...
True.

Jen, you've always made me proud. The good things I see in me, I see in you. Not so much with my bad qualities! Congrats to you and Matt.

Awwwwww, so sweet Mike...

Congratulations GRANDPA!!

Great 55 too, and I'm going to climb out of this hole I'm hiding away in soon, I promise you that. Maybe getting back to work three days a week threw me off balance, I don't know. I miss participating in blogging and all, can't really explain it, but I'm going to conquer it!

hugs

Wonderful 55, Mike, and great news! I've alwayas thought I had a great relationship with my dad, and the older I get, the better it gets. It sounds like you and your daughter have the same thing!

Hugs,

What a great 55. Never been married or had kids but I really know just what you mean. Congratulations to you, your daughter and the whole family. Soon the cycle starts all over only down one generation. And now it is your time to spoil the grand kids!

I do not know what your other 55s look like but I must disagree, this was a wonderful 55.

What a lovely 55, and congratulations on becoming a grandpa!

I wonder sometimes if Mr Ratburn would have liked a son, but a girl is what we got, and a gosh darned good one too! They are the best of friends!

Thank you all for the kind words and congratulations. I am lucky as I have two daughters and two sons. Both the boys are good strong men now and my youngest daughter (14) is a bold and creative young lady. I'm proud of them all.

Missy-I hope by celebration you mean...drinking!

Toadee-blessings and heartbreakers...

Ambre-sympathy on that 3 day work week...Thanks, love!

Snow white-Itsa different-she and I got much closer as she got older, those teen years...UGH!

Barman-Thank you for the sentiment-with 2 wives and 4 kids, at least it explains why I am perpetually broke! (ah, the other 55's are archived...)

Sophia-thanks for stopping by, hope I didn't make you puke this time!

Susie, they are all great. Seems to me Mr. Ratburn is a pretty lucky guy, too...

Snowelf-thank you so much, I'm always glad when you enjoy them!

Lime-grandbaby? That would make me a ...(gulp) GRANDFATHER. NO-I"M TOO YOUNG I TELL YA!!!!!

Awww, that is so sweet.

I know, as a guy, I want a son, especially after seeing my mom go through the "dad duties" with my sister growing up.

But a daughter...my little girl.....

On the contrary, this is your BEST 55 ever!

I love the thought expressed so honestly & candidly & the truth about it has a universal quality!

May you be blessed with the new addition to your family! :)

Its sad that man born out of women have so little respect for them. You seem quite unique that way. But I guess ultimately it must dawn to everyone...
